BAGGAGE – General Conditions of Baggage Carriage
Unpaid baggage (Checked baggage – baggage in the baggage compartment)
Every passenger with a paid ticket has the right for the baggage carriage. Depending on the airline and destination the allowed weight and number of pieces may vary. Generally, there is a rule according to which a passenger in the economy class has the right for free carriage of 1 piece of baggage (checked baggage, i.e. baggage in the baggage compartment) of 20 kg weight. In case you have bought a ticket in the business class, the allowed weight might be 30 kg and in case of the first class up to 40 kg.
In case of air tickets from and to the USA, Canada and Mexico so called piece concept is valid, which means the right for carriage of 2 pieces of baggage, each of 20, 30 or 40 kg maximum weight depending on the travel class.
Unpaid baggage (Carry-on baggage – hand baggage)
It is the baggage on the board (lady handbag, laptop, small travel bag). This baggage shouldn’t exceed dimensions 55x40x20cm and weight max from 6 to 10kg depending on the airline and travel class.
Paid baggage
It is the baggage exceeding the above mentioned standards, for example baggage heavier than 20 kg, baggage of non- standard dimensions or animals. In this case each airline has its own procedure and price for each kilogram over the permitted limit. Our Customer Service agents have to ask for the non-standard baggage carriage, eventually its price and consult it with the relevant airline. It’s upon the airline if they allow carriage of such baggage. Our agents will inform you about the decision of the airline.
When buying tickets of the low-cost airlines, e.g.: SkyEurope, Ryanair, Germanwings there is a possibility to buy baggage carriage immediately during the reservation on the web page www.pelikan.sk .
You will be provided all the information concerning the General Conditions of Baggage Carriage at the Customer Service of the company.
